The authorities of the Canton Grisons draw a positive conclusion: As usual, the 46th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos took place under peaceful conditions despite a heightened threat level. The Canton Grisons as host and Davos as convention venue offered yet again ideal conditions for numerous discussions and chance meetings that so typically characterize the annual meeting of the WEF.

Due to the current security environment, increased control and reconnaissance activities by all security forces were instituted well in advance of the event. All measures proved to be effective, there were no security-relevant incidents.

The WEF annual meeting was very well attended this year. In addition to the high number of leading personalities from business, politics, and the sciences, many heads of state, government representatives and ministers made their way to Davos. Six out of the seven members of the Federal Council took the opportunity for talks within this national and international environment. Christian Rathgeb, President of the Government of the Canton Grisons, along with other members of the cantonal government met in Davos with numerous representatives from the business community as well as members of the governments of other cantons and the Swiss Confederation.

The Canton Grisons and the alpine city of Davos were again able to underscore the importance of Davos as a convention venue while further promoting Switzerland’s reputation as a safe and peaceful location for dialogue and exchange of opinions. Both the enhanced control activities by the security forces and increased police presence enjoyed wide acceptance among WEF participants as well as the local populace. The Government of the Canton Grisons notes with satisfaction that the challenges were mastered and the entire week was peaceful and quiet.

The World Economic Forum in Davos is possible only with the support of the numerous partners and the local populace. In this regard, the WEF Committee for the Government of the Canton Grisons would like to once again take the opportunity to thank all cantons and larger cities as well as the Principality of Liechtenstein for their generous willingness to participate in the security mission for the WEF. This thanks extends as well to all security forces of the police, the armed forces, and the border guard.
